GE2408 Travel Writing: Discovery and Experience

Have you ever tried to write a letter to yourself? In this restaurant called “Another Fine Day”, this is only one tea set menu. What’s more, after you finish the meal, the staff will give you a box, including a letter set. They want the customers to write a letter to the future self in this relaxing ambience. The staff promises to send you back the letter one year after.

 

What can you write? You can try to say “I love me” to yourself in the future. You can praise about yourself, tell yourself how wonderful you are and how much you treasure yourself. You can also thank yourself for all the kindness and good qualities. Sometimes it’s much easier to see yourself clearly when you step outside of yourself.

 

Hong Kong people are busy all the time. We need to study, work, meet friends and date with lovers. Actually, we cannot forget giving ourselves a chance to stay alone. We better leave some time for ourselves. Writing a letter to ourselves is a great opportunity for us to rethink about ourselves, to think about the future.
